‘Roseanne’ is a sitcom that has been broadcasted for ages now. Since the start of this sitcom in 1985 it has been extremely popular. It’s about an average American working-class family who try to manage things together. ‘Roseanne’ is just as popular in America as ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ is in Britain. Roseanne Barr is in charge of her own sitcom just like Jennifer Saunders is of hers. Roseanne has expressed her appreciation for Jennifer’s work especially 'Absolutely Fabulous'. The two came in contact when Roseanne wanted to buy the rights for an American version of the British sitcom 'Absolutely Fabulous'. Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley made a guest appearance in Roseanne as 'Edina' and 'Patsy'. Something which the audience extremely enjoyed. They cheered the two British comediennes on with extreme enthusiasm as only Americans can. No other poll could express how popular the sitcom ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ is in America as this cheering on.

Jennifer plays her well known character 'Edina Monsoon'. 'Eddy' and her best friend 'Patsy' are at a party in New York with lots of other people who are loaded with money. Mo Gaffney who plays 'Astrid' introduces them to 'Roseanne' and her sister 'Jackie'. Both 'Roseanne' and 'Jackie' are at the party too as they have won $108,000,000 in the lottery. 'Eddy' is after 'Roseanne’s' money and wants to do her PR. 'Eddy' and 'Patsy' make 'Roseanne' and 'Jackie' drink and they all end up in the bathroom. This could perfectly well be a backflash to ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ where both 'Eddy' and 'Patsy' have passed out in several bathrooms many times. This time 'Roseanne' passes out 'Eddy' hits her to make her come round again. 'Patsy' makes 'Roseanne' drink even more. Finally even 'Eddy' passes out and that’s where it ends.

Roseanne and Jennifer came in contact when Roseanne became interested in acquiring the rights of an American version of 'AbFab'. Jennifer agreed to this as Roseanne was 'the first one to snap to the fact that it was about a mother and daughter' as Jennifer said in an interview. Long before this Roseanne expressed her admiration for Jennifer’s work, especially on the 'AbFab series. So it is not that surprising that 'Edina Monsoon' ended up in one of the episodes.
