Ruby Wax is well known herself due to the fact of the success of shows like ‘The Full Wax’ and ‘Ruby Wax meets ...’ which she writes herself. She interviews celebrities in their homes, in the studio or some other casual setting. It is not easy to be a celebrity guest in her show as she is continually mocking the status of celebrities with her sardonic clever humour. She has interviewed the likes of Joanna Lumley, Pamela Anderson, Goldie Hawn, Roseanne Barr, Fran Dreschener, Liza Minelli, Carry Fisher, Bette Midler and loads more.
Jennifer Saunders plays herself or almost as one can never tell what she's really like.
Plot
Ruby tries to get higher ratings by turning this show into a charity show for Hawaiian people. Ruby’s goal is to make them throw out those detesting shirts and get them some decent new ones. And when enough money is being donated get them some nice cars on the side, like BMW 325 convertibles. Jennifer’s there to help out by answering all the phones at the help-a-Hawaiian hotline desk.
Ruby: Okay Jennifer take him away. I think I’ve made my point.
Jennifer: Where do you want me to put him Ruby.
Ruby: Just through him in a box and shuff him under the oven.
Jennifer: Nice outfit by the way.
Ruby: What size is yours.
Jennifer: Tall and womanly.
Ruby: How’s the phone-calls coming along Jennifer.
Jennifer: It’s going very well.
Ruby: This is the time in the show for Jennifer and I to have some dialogue together while we chew the
chicken. It’s a time for us to share our thoughts while we sit here and munch meat. Jennifer look what
little Sumala made for me.
Jennifer: Lovely.
Ruby: Isn’t that creative.
Jennifer: Very nice.
Ruby: You know these people really are good with their hands and it is part of their tragedy. I mean who
in this cruel world needs a sculpture of themselves made out of fruit. Isn’t that the stupidest thing you’ve
ever heard.
Jennifer: Yes.
Ruby: If anyone would like to rent Sumala get in touch.
Jennifer: Can I just say ...
Ruby: Let me just, that’s my line, let me just say how good it feels to be doing something to help the world
like my fellow showbizz-personalities. And also may I say my very close friends for example Sting ...
Jennifer: Sting at this ...
Ruby: Excuse me. For example Sting is at this very moment in the jungles of South America glueing all the
bark back onto the trees. Let me just say how proud I am to be among this unselfish crew. Who may have
stretched limo’s the size of Texas, but by God they have to have. ‘Cause their big to fit in all that heart.
Thank you. Jennifer what are you doing.
Jennifer: I am having a dialogue Ruby while I eat your face.
Ruby: All right you’ve just lost rights in the kitchen. Up. Get up. Up mend your telephones now. Jennifer
get up there.
Ruby: Jennifer answer those ringing phones and keep the money rolling. Anneka eat your heart out.
Jennifer: I am not sure if that’s the money or the ratings. Hahaha. Oe au Bruno Bruno I’ve got a knobs
here could you get rid of that knob for me thank you. I shall be bored having my nails done now. Thanks
Bruno. Thank you sweetie. Thank you. Where’s Ruby.
Jennifer: Is that phone ringing yet Bruno. Yes all the money goes directly into Ruby’s pocket as far as I am aware. No I wouldn’t bother either frankly. Champagne please Bruno. And you polish faster.
Ruby: I am too depressed to end the show. Jennifer you end the show. There’s the autocue.
Jennifer: Night night. That’s it. That’s it.
This isn’t the first time Jennifer worked with Ruby. They have done many things together. Starting with a sitcom ‘Girls on Top’. There was also a guest appearance by Ruby in the 'AbFab' series. They are now supposedly working on a movie which Jennifer writes and Ruby stars in.
Other guests in that particular show were Teri Garr, Esther Rantzen, Julian Litten and Preston Lockwood.
Jennifer has been a guest on Ruby’s show for two times. I have missed one of the shows so if anyone has it on tape please let me know. I shall be very grateful if I could be able to obtain a copy. I'm sure I've got something in return for you. Please, please, pretty please e-mail me.
